Harmless Tool or Alien Probe?
From “The War of the Worlds” by H. G. Wells, performed by Orson Welles & the Mercury Theatre, broadcast on CBS Radio Sunday, October 30, 1938:
We know now that in the early years of the twentieth century this world was being watched closely by intelligences greater than man’s, and yet as mortal as his own. We know now that as human beings busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinized and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
Of course, this is no alien technology. It’s a nice little tool from Mighty Bright: two powerful LEDs on a stalk paired with a magnifier on another stalk, all powered by a trio of AAA batteries or optional power supply.
But it does remind me of the alien weapons from the original “War of the Worlds” movie: snaky, sinuous and a smidge sinister. Of course, my intention is benign. I plan to use it simply to scrutinize the transient little parts that swarm and multiply in my aircraft building projects.

Pete,
That looks like a tormenting device for ants (or small animals)!
Use the extra bright LEDs when the sunlight is not enough or not available!
